November 27, 2003: Chimney fire on Cottage Avenue

Station 15 was dispatched to Chimney Fire on Cottage Avenue in Lycoming Township on this Thanksgiving Day. The alarm was sounded around 11:55 am.

First on arrival was Chief Jeffrey Tempesco who reported flames showing from the chimney. Engine 15 and Tanker 15 responded. Fortunately the fire was contained to the stainless steel insert in the chimney with no other damage found.

Below are a few scenes from this incident.

Engine 15 arrives on the scene and its crew ladders the roof and checks the interior.

In the upper left, the burning wood and debris is removed from the stove while Captain Quigel removes the heat saver and assembly to access the chimney liner.

To the immediate left is a view of the fire which was found.

Chief Jeffrey Tempesco and Eric Brungard, a Station 14 ambulance responder, check the chimney. They did insert "SNUFFY" into the chimney to put the fire out.

And then comes the job of putting the toys back on the trucks....

Above Captain Steve Schon rolls hose while, to the left, personnel assist with the cleanup including removal of the ladders.
