January 13, 2004: Garage Fire On Mill Hill Road

Hepburn Twp, Trout Run and Old Lycoming Fire Departments were dispatched to a garage fire this evening. It was around 10:00 pm and the location was the Neyhart Residence on Mill Hill Road in Lycoming Township. The garage was used for many purposes by the owner and contained explosives including acetylene, oxygen, gasoline and propane. The garage, which had significant flames visible, was reported close to the Neyhart home. Quickly a second alarm was called bringing tankers from Woodward Township, South Williamsport Independent, Loyalsock and DuBoistown.

Trout Run's Engine 16 was first on the scene and handlines were deployed. Engine 15 followed down the slick driveway dropping 5" LDH and then supplied Engine 16. Engine 14 was stationed on Mill Hill Road to supply the LDH to Engine 15

Fortunately no one was injured. Mr. Neyhart said that he had a wood burner in the garage which was working when the fire was discovered.. Mr. Neyhart and his wife had just returned home from Church after the fire had been reported to 911. He said he saw flames shooting through the roof in the area of the wood burner.

The garage was destroyed as the following pictures show.
