First on scene reports confirmed the need for a second alarm with smoke and flame involvement in the structure. Engine 15 was the first apparatus on the scene. Their crew made an aggressive interior attack through the front porch door of the structure. Additional crews were also assigned to ventilation. The origin of the fire was a dryer in the laundry room. The fire was declared knocked down about one half hour later.

Due to the construction of the old plank style farmhouse, there still remained many hot fires in the petitions and void spaces between the walls of the rooms and the exterior of the home. Crews continued to work for approximately another 1.5 hours until the fire was declared under control. During this whole process, the crews agressively approached salvage operations. Many personal items and furniture were protected and saved.

The Twilight Hours

Because of the construction of the farmhouse, there were many hidden locations inside the structure. As a result the fire suppression and overhaul lasted into the evening
